Key information

  • Must be at least 21 years.

  • Must pass the OSFM fireworks shooter exam (for new applicants only)

  • Must complete certified training under the  NFPA 1123 (2018)

  • Application must be notarized.

  • Renewal is required every 3 years.

Any one that ignites fireworks by manual or electric means needs to have a firework shooter license.

    • Study Materials: The exams are based on the following standards:
  • NFPA 1123: Standard for Outdoor Fireworks Display.
  • NFPA 1126: Standard for Use of Pyrotechnics Before a Proximate Audience.
  • Maryland Code: Title 10 of the Public Safety Article and the State Fire Prevention Code.
  • Copies of all training certificates
  • Copies of any current firework certifications
